How to Turn On windows 10 hey Cortana

First, to Turn on the “Hey Cortana” feature on Windows 10 Click the search box to the right of the Start button. A Cortana dialog box appears. Now Click the menu icon in the upper right corner of Cortana’s window It has three stripes. Now click on Notebook.

Next click on Select Settings. Now on cortana settings look for “hey cortana”. Turn on Toggle “Let Cortana respond to ‘Hey Cortana.'”

Now the next time you say “Hey Cortana” into your microphone, you can follow that with a command such as “what’s the weather like?” and get some results. If you just say “Hey Cortana,” the assistant will ask what would you like me to do.

Enable Hey Cortana on your Lock Screen

Microsoft will add a new feature where you will be able to interact with Cortana even on Lock Screen. This feature is yet not enabled but you can enable it manually in build 14316. Here are two different ways to Enable “Hey Cortana” on Lock Screen in Windows 10 build 14316.

To enable Cortana on lock screen in Windows 10, you do not have to install any third party software. Instead, you can just use Registry Editor to enable Hey Cortana on Windows 10 lock screen.

First, open Registry Editor. To do so, press Win + R, type regedit and hit enter. Now on the left pane of registry editor, navigate the following path,

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Speech_OneCore\Preferences

On the right-hand side, you will have to create a new DWORD 32-bit value. For that, right click on the empty place, select New >> DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Now, name it VoiceActivationEnableAboveLockscreen. After that, double click on the value and set the value to 1.

That’s it! Now, you can get Cortana on Windows 10 lock screen.

Disable Windows 10 Hey Cortana on your Lock Screen

To disable open Registry Editor. To do so, press Win + R, type regedit and hit enter. Now negivate to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Speech_OneCore\Preferences

Here double click on VoiceActivationEnableAboveLockscreen DWORD and set the value 0 to Disable “Hey Cortana” on your lock screen.
