Start with Basic solution make sure your Windows is not affected by virus & malware. We recommend Download and install a good antivirus / antimalware application with the latest updates and perform a full system scan.

  1. Open Edge.

  2. Click on the three dots icon on the upper-right part of the screen.

  3. Click Settings.

  4. Under Clear browsing data, click on Choose what to clear.

  5. Click on Clear.

  1. Start Edge browser click More (. . .) button then Settings.

  2.  Click the drop-down of Open Microsoft Edge with and choose the New tab page.

  3. Click the drop-down corresponding to the setting Open new tabs with.

  4. There, select the option A blank page As Shown Bellow image.

  5. That’s all Close and restart the Edge browser and it will start with a blank page.

Turn off or uninstall Edge extensions

If you have installed the Number of Edge extensions, it’s a good idea to turn off them all the extensions. If the issue persists even after turning off all extensions, uninstall them to check if the Edge browser is slow because of one of these extensions.

To turn off Or uninstall an Edge extension

  1. Simply click on the three dots icon (…) located just below the close button and then click Extensions.

  2. Here you will find All installed Edge Extension.

  3. Click on the name of an extension to see its settings,

  4. Click the Turn off the option to turn off the extension.

  5. Do The same with other extensions,

  6. Then Restart Edge Browser Check loading smoothly.

  7. If not try to uninstall the extension To completely Remove the Extension.

Repair Or Reset the Edge browser

If After Turn off or uninstalling The Edge extensions don’t help, Still the Edge Browser load very lazy? Then you can try to repair or Reset the Edge browser. Microsoft recommends users to repair the Edge browser when the browser is not working well. Also With Fall Creators update Microsoft added Option to Reset the Browser its Default Setting.

How to repair the Edge browser

  1. First Close The Edge Browser, If it’s running.

  2. Then click on the Start menu and Open the Settings app.

  3. Now Navigate to Apps then Apps & features.

  4. Click on Microsoft Edge you will see the Advanced options link, Click On it.

Note: Resetting the browser will delete browsing history, saved passwords, favorites, and other data saved in the browser. So, backup these data first before proceeding to the reset job.

Set the New Location For Temporary Files

Also, Some Users Report Set the New Location For Temporary files which ‘re-gain’ Temporary Files directory and help edge Browser work normally. To Set New location for Temp Files,

  1. Open Internet Explorer (Not Edge),

  2. Click on the Gear icon and select Internet options.

  3. Here General tab, under Browsing History, go to Settings.

  4. On the Temporary Internet Files tab, click on Move folder.

  5. Choose the new location for the “Temporary Internet Files” folder (like C: Usersyourname).

  6. Then set the Disk Space to use 1024MB and click OK.

  7. Now close Edge Browser and Open Edge browser check Running smoothly.

Reset Microsoft Edge

If in case the issue persists, we recommend using Windows PowerShell to reset Microsoft Edge in your account. You must first delete all the contents in   Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe folder. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Open File Explorer.

  2. Search the following path: C:\Users\”Username”\AppData\Local\Packages, then press Enter. Note: Replace “Username” with your user account name.

  3. Look for MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe file or folder,

  4. open it, select all the files inside the folder, right-click on it, then press Delete.

Note: If in case that you get a “Folder Access Denied” prompt, click Continue. You should be able to delete most of the files inside the folder. If not, right-click  Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe folder, select Properties, uncheck the Read-only option, then select Apply and OK.

  1. Once you’re done deleting all its content,

  1. Now Click Start, type PowerShell, right-click on it, then select Run as administrator.

  2. Type the following command and press enter key to execute the same.

Get-AppXPackage-AllUsers -Name Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml” -Verbose}

Re register default Windows apps Windows 10
  1. After complete the process, restart windows to take effect the changes.

  2. Once your PC restarted, open Microsoft Edge and check if the issue persists.

Create a New User Account

You may check the same issue with the new user account. Try these steps to create a new user account and check if it fixes the issue. Refer to the steps below to create a new User Account:

  1. Go to Settings.

  2. Choose Accounts and then select Other User Accounts towards the left.

  3. Select Add an Account.

  4. Enter a user name and hit Next.

  5. Click on Finish.

  6. Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.

  7. Check if the issue persists.
