windows 10 version 1803 incompatible with Intel Toshiba SSDs (solid state drive)

It seems Microsoft didn’t get everything right with Windows 10 April 2018 Update, Recently we saw after upgrade to windows 10 version 1803 many software issues such as chrome crash and freezes system, kb4103721 update causing the black screen. And now Hardware incompatible issues “machines that use Intel SSD 600p or SSD Pro 6000p drives causing UEFI failure, or with any machines that contain Toshiba XG4, XG5, or BG3 series solid-state drives (SSDs) causing lower battery life after installing Windows 10 April 2018 Update.

“One of the issues that Microsoft recently acknowledge was the UEFI failure on Intel SSDs. Now it looks like the issue is not only with Intel SSDs but also with Toshiba SSDs”.

This time, the company says that a number of PCs that are equipped with Toshiba SSDs could see lower battery life after installing Windows 10 April 2018 Update. Microsoft is working with OEM partners and Toshiba to identify and block devices with Toshiba XG5 Series or Toshiba BG3 Series solid state disk (SSD) from installing the April 2018 Update due to a known incompatibility that may cause battery performance issues. A fix is already in the works and should land with the next Patch Tuesday update cycle in 12 June.

In the meanwhile, Microsoft has blocked Windows 10 April 2018 Update on PCs with affected  Toshiba SSDs which are XG4 Series, Toshiba XG5 Series, and Toshiba BG3 SSDs. Microsoft states this issue get fixed on next Patch Tuesday rollout begins on June 12, which means customers whose devices are impacted by this bug need to wait one more month for a fix. Still then you can remove the update and downgrade your device to the previous version of the OS.

  1. Open the Settings app from Start menu.

  2. Navigate to Update & Security > Recovery > Go back to the previous version of Windows 10.

  3. Click the Get started button to begin the process.
