  1. net stop wuauserv 

  2. net stop cryptSvc 

  3. net stop bits 

  4. net stop msiserver 

The above commands stop Windows update service and its related services.

  1. Ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old 

  2. Ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 Catroot2.old 

This will rename or backup the Software distribution folder where windows update files get stored. This means Next time when you check for updates this will create a new Software distribution folder and download fresh update files.
